FAQ For Teens Crisis Support ConfidentialityFirst Session Parent & Teen GuidelinesParents Length of TherapyLocation
Can I start therapy on my own?
In Wisconsin, teens under 18 usually need parent or guardian consent to start therapy. This means your parent or guardian will need to agree and sign some forms before you can have sessions.
Do my parents get to know everything I say in therapy?
Not everything. Therapists follow rules about confidentiality, which means most of what you share stays private. Parents are usually only informed if there’s a safety concern, like risk of harm to yourself or someone else.
Can I still have a say in my therapy?
Absolutely. Even though your parent signs consent, therapy is about you and your goals. You decide what to talk about, and your therapist will work with you at your pace.
Will therapy help with school, stress, or anxiety?
Yes! Therapy can help you manage stress, anxiety, and big emotions, build confidence, and find practical skills for school, friendships, and everyday life.
